Nepal Appreciative Inquiry National Network (NAINN)

Formation of Imagine Youth, Lalitpur

April 23, 2005. Imagine Lalitpur (IL) organized a meeting of the Youths of Lalitpur. The purpose of the meeting was to form an Imagine Youth team to accelerate the movement of positive societal transformation forwarded by NAINN and supported by Imagine Initiatives. IL had organized a gathering of the youths in which Buddhi Tamang, Parashu Ram Timalsina and Gopal Ghimire had given an orientation on AI to them.

The meeting formed "IMAGINE YOUTH, LALITPUR (IYL)" of 11 members. The coordinator of the IYL is Mr. Amrit Timalsina and the vice Coordinator is Ms. Pramila Badikar. IL will cooperate IYL to move its program all over Lalitpur in the days to come.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMNET TRAINING FOR SATHI NETWORK.

May 31-June 4, 2005. Society for Empowerment, STEP Nepal, an NGO working for controlling HIV/AIDS, organized Leadership Development Training for Sathi Network at Jawalakhel. Various skills, methods and techniques were given to the participants to develop the leadership skill. Parashu Ram Timalsina, general Secretary of NAINN, ran one of the sessions. He discussed about Appreciative Inquiry, its theoretical and practical part. There were 32 participants including 21 female.

AI TRAINING

MAY 8-10, 2005. NGO Federation Sankhuwashava organized a three day AI Training for the district level GOs and NGOs leaders of Sankhuwashava. Number of participants were 37 including 8 female. Buddhi Tamang, advisor of NAINN facilitated the program.

AI TRAINING
MAY 11-15, 2005. NGO Federation Sankhuwashava organized a five-day AI Training for the staff members of GOs and NGOs who are actually working in the grass root level. Number of participants were 30 including 8 female. Buddhi Tamang, advisor of NAINN facilitated the program.

FORMATION OF IMAGINE INITIATIVES
MAY 15, 2005. Social Development Activists, social workers and NGO leaders have formed 'IMAGINE INITIATIVE, SHANKHUWASHAVA (IIS). The initiative was formed in the presence of Buddhi Tamang, advisor of NAINN and Harikrishna Khatiwada, Chief District Officer, Shankhuwashava. Prem Kumar Karki is the coordinator and Kalpana Dhital is member secretary of the committee of 15 members.

IIS has also formed an advisory team in which the members are Mr Harikrishna Khatiwada, Chief District Officer, Shankhuwashava, Mr. Meghnath Kafle, Local Development Officer, Mr. Khadga Rai and Chewanchandra Basnet from NGO federation, Shankhuwashava and the other four GOs and NGO district officer of Shankhuwashava.

FACILITATION SKILL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING
JUNE 2-7, 2005. Rural Institution for Community Development (RICOD), an NGO working to control HIV/AIDS, organized a six-day's " Facilitation Skill Development Training" to its staff members and volunteers. Various facilitation skills such as presentation skill, communication skill, counseling skill were given to the participants. Along with this, A half day session was about Appreciative Inquiry. Mr Parashuram Timalsina, General Secretary of NAINN facilitated the session. He dealt with the AI theory, principles, philosophy and 4 D cycle. In the remaining days, Mr. Ram Hari Ghimire, The coordinator of RICOD, Ms. Jamuna Shrestha, Mr. Yadav Humagain and Mr Akkal Sing Thapa facilitated the programe. There were total 28 participants including 18 female.

Community Development Workshop

May 3, 2005. Community Development Workshop. Imagine Initiative, Lalitpur organized a day's "First Lalitpur Community Development Workshop (FLCDW) at Jawalakhel. Chief District Officer inaugurated the workshop. The Program was run in the presence of Local Development Officer, Lalitpur. General Secretary of NAINN ran an introductory class of Appreciative Inquiry in the workshop. He explained the theory, philosophy and 4 D cycle of AI. Papers on Agro-Forestry, Education, Health and Women were presented and discussed there. Mr Bimal Kumar Baniya., Mr. Harsanarayan Dhaumadel, Mr Rituraj Gaudtaula and Ms. Kamala Parajuli presented the paper respectively. District level GOs, NGOs, INGOs and other organization involved in economic sectors participated in the programme. The total presentation was 63 including half of female. The participants were encouraged to have known about AI and about how social development can be run through AI. All the present organizations including Lalitpur District Development Committee were agreed to implement AI in their planning, Social development activities and also agreed to organize such programs in the days to come.

AI TRAINING

MAY 1-5, 2005. NGO Federation Kailali, organized a five day AI Training for the NGOs representatives of Far Western Development Region. Number of participants was 23 including 11 female. Buddhi Tamang, advisor of NAINN facilitated the program.

NAINN ACTIVITIES - JANUARY, 2005

APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY TRAINING

December 30, 2004 - January 1, 2005. Nawalparasi District Development Committee (DDC) and Imagine Nawalparasi organized jointly Three Day Appreciative Inquiry training for its staff members in Nawalparasi District Headquarter Parasai. There were 29-participants in the training. Introduction, history, theoretical background of AI and techniques of positive mind setting were discussed. Similarly, AI working framework 4-D wheel was exercised in their own day-to-day working context. Ram Raut and Gopal Ghimire facilitated the training. The training participants developed their future Plan for DDC.

APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY TRAINING

January 3-5, 2005. Nucleus for Empowerment through Skill Transfer (NEST), West Nepal organized a Three day Training for its staff and members of other NGOs in Pokhara. There were 25 participants including three female. The training made the participants conceptual clarity of AI and practiced its 4-D wheel according to their working context. Director of NEST made the opening of the training. Training certificates was distributed in such a participatory way that each one distributes one system. The organizer and participants have realized that they will have three day AI training for further more clarity and exercise on 4-D cycle. The training was reported in local FM Radios and newspapers.

APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY ORIENTATION

January 6, 2005. Nucleus for Empowerment through Skill Transfer (NEST), West Nepal organized a one day Appreciative Inquiry Orientation for its partners NGOs, Journalists, Educationists and government staff. In this orientation, AI concept was briefed. The information about the Nepal Appreciative Inquiry National Network (NAINN) and its goal and objectives were shared. In this orientation, there were 62 participants and Buddhi Tamang facilitated it. It was reported in local FM Radios and newspapers.

AI ORIENTATION

January 21, 2005. Global Action Nepal (GAN) organized a day's AI orientation to its senior staff at Kathmandu. There were six participants. Buddhi Tamang, advisor of NAINN facilitated the program

January 25-29, 2005. NGO Federation, District Chapter Jhapa and NGO Federation Coordination Committee, Jhapa jointly organized a five-day Appreciative Inquiry Training. Including 16 females, the total participants were 46. Buddhi Tamang, advisor of NAINN facilitated the training and Pradip Puri co-facilitated it.

The training made the participants conceptual clarity of AI and practiced its 4-D wheel according to their working context. Director of NEST made the opening of the training. Training certificates were distributed in such a participatory way that was each one distributes one system. Bhardrapur Civil Society organized a five day Appreciative Inquiry Training for the NGO leaders of Jhapa district for the college teachers, schools, business people politicians and government officials. 35 people including 6 females participated the program. Buddhi Tamang, advisor of NAINN facilitated the training and Pradip Puri co-facilitated it.

February 17, 2005. Seto Gurans (Child Development NGO) organized one day AI orientation to its senior staff in the context of child development. Most of the participants were female. Buddhi Tamang, advisor of NAINN facilitated the program

February 26, 2005. Standard Icon organized one day AI orientation to the business people in the context of Business Management at Kathmandu. 15 participants including 6 female participated the program. Buddhi Tamang, advisor of NAINN facilitated the program

PROPOSAL WRITING TRAINING

March 6-9, 2005. Rural Reconstruction Nepal, Shankhuwashava organized a four-day's Proposal Writing Training to its staff members. The training was focused in proposal writing through AI approach. AI ORIENTATION

March 10, 2005. NGO federation, Shankhuwashava organized one day AI Orientation. The participants were business leaders, district level government officers, NGO officers, political leaders and media people. Number of participants was 40 including 10 female. March 12, 2005. Silichong Community Development Center, Sankhuwashava organized a half-day AI Orientation for Adult Literacy Facilitators. Number of participants was 40 including 20 females. Buddhi Tamang, advisor of NAINN facilitated the program.
